Description: In 2018, the Kansas State University Foundation team launched a new initiative that brought the organization together to create meaningful experiences for donors, leading to more donors and growing major gift pipeline. Engagement by Design is a team made up of prospect development, annual giving, communications, stewardship and gift planning. Together, they’ve broken silos, integrated teams, and created shared goals across the entire organization, helping propel K-State to its highest annual fundraising total in FY19 and helping increase donor counts.As a group, this committee launched K-State’s first giving day, which successfully funded the operating budget for the campus food pantry, Cats’ Cupboard, for three years. They’ve introduced a new Digital Development Officer program, delivering personal stewardship and solicitation to mid-level donors, securing new multi-million gifts and building pipeline. And they’ve helped support a new K-State Family Scholarship program, which has resulted in more than 200 endowed scholarships and $7M in gifts from first-time major donors. They’ve fully activated the Giving Funnel at K-State, where meaningful engagement becomes qualified leads and closed gifts.
