New Year, New Resources: What Your Peers Are Recommending
By Apra Headquarters | January 23, 2025
As we entered the new year, we wanted to know what resources prospect development professionals were keeping an eye on to enhance their professional development.
We surveyed a few Apra members and got responses with a little bit of everything. Check out their recommendations below and add them to your list!
Recommended by: Jennifer Moody, Vice President, Research, GOBEL
Why They’re Recommending It: Project Management for the Unofficial Project Manager offers practical, real-world insights for effective project management and guides you through the essentials of the people and project management process. Aren't we all unofficial project managers no matter our role in an organization? We can always use an additional perspective on how to manage the projects, tasks, and people both in our reporting line and outside of it. And as a self-proclaimed control freak, I always appreciate a good book on getting and staying organized.
Recommendation: A video presentation by Cannon Brooks on an introduction to artificial intelligence (AI) for prospect research.
Recommended by: Dana Lutat, Research and Information Manager
Why They’re Recommending It: If you're not already using AI for prospect research tasks and analysis, Cannon Brooks's presentation is great. DonorSearch has made this session free and widely available, too.

Why They’re Recommending It: I have started following Jim Langley on LinkedIn. He has some wonderful commentary on fundraising and philanthropy, including posts on how to look at fundraising and how to speak to donors. I've found it enlightening and it has given me some good ideas.
