Advancing Your Strategy and Strengthening Your Professional Circle: Why Attend PD26?
If you work in prospect development, research, or fundraising analytics, there's one event you simply cannot afford to miss: Apra Prospect Development 2026. Whether you're a seasoned professional or newer to the field, this conference delivers the kind of value that stays with you long after the closing session wraps up.
A Community That Gets It
There's something uniquely energizing about being in a room full of people who truly understand what you do. Apra PD isn't just a conference — it's a gathering of your people. Prospect researchers, development analysts, major gift strategists, and data professionals come together to share challenges, celebrate wins, and build the kind of relationships that last for years.
Craig Belanger, Director of Development Research at Biola University, puts it perfectly:
"Throughout my nearly 19-year career in prospect research and analysis, Apra has been a go-to source of information — not only in matters of prospect research — but across nearly every aspect of an integrated development operation. Best practices, professional networking opportunities, emerging technologies, strategic planning, and tips for more successful interdepartmental integration are all to be found among Apra resources and events."
Celebrating nearly four decades as an association says everything you need to know. When something consistently delivers as Apra does, you keep showing up.
Start Strong: Pre-Conference Learning Opportunities
Before the main conference even kicks off, PD26 gives you the chance to go deeper with dedicated pre-conference sessions designed to sharpen and enhance your skills. Whether you're looking to solidify your foundational knowledge or level up your leadership game, there's a track for you.
Pre-conference offerings span the full professional spectrum — from core fundamentals, essential tools, and data analytics to leadership, management, and strategic thinking. It's the perfect on-ramp for newer professionals finding their footing and a valuable tune-up for experienced practitioners looking to refresh, refocus, and recharge before the main event begins.
Explore the Full Breadth of Prospect Development
The main conference sessions are where the real magic happens. Programming is thoughtfully organized around Apra's core body of knowledge, ensuring that no matter where your expertise or curiosity lies, there's a session calling your name. Key focus areas include Prospect Research, Relationship Management, Data Science, and Leadership and Professional Development — the essential pillars that drive a well-rounded, high-performing development operation.
Sessions are designed to broaden your perspective and deepen your competency, helping you see prospect development through new lenses. Want to learn how to build a robust prospect pipeline from the ground up? There's a session for that. Curious about how artificial intelligence is transforming prospect identification and qualification? That's on the agenda too. Interested in data visualization tools that can turn complex information into compelling stories for leadership? You'll find it here — along with guidance on how to go beyond wealth screening results and craft a compelling, insight-rich prospect profile. The breadth of learning opportunities means you'll leave with both big-picture thinking and practical, ready-to-implement skills.
Knowledge You Can Actually Use
Forget sitting through sessions that sound great on paper but leave you with nothing actionable. Apra PD is built around practical, applicable learning. Attendees consistently leave with fresh ideas, new tools, and renewed motivation to bring back to their teams.
Shelly Van Peursem of Sanford Health Foundation captures this feeling well:
"I always come away from the Apra conference with so many nuggets of information. I not only can share with the Research team but Analytics and Major gift officers and Development too. I get so motivated to try new ideas out on the team. Thank you, Apra!"
That ripple effect is real. One attendee's conference experience can energize an entire department. Think of it as a professional development investment that multiplies.
High-Quality Sessions, Whole-Person Care
Apra PD understands that you're more than your job title. The conference is known for pairing expert-led, substantive sessions with intentional attention to attendee wellbeing — including mindfulness and meditation resources woven throughout the programming.
Another attendee summed it up simply:
"The Apra conference provides a top-notch experience, not only offering high-quality sessions by subject matter experts but also tending to work/life balance by offering practical meditation and mindfulness resources in easy-to-access formats. Well done."
In an industry known for doing a lot with a little, that kind of thoughtful programming matters.
The Bottom Line
Apra PD26 offers something rare: a safe, supportive space to share bold ideas, ask honest questions, and connect with professionals who are navigating the same landscape you are. From pre-conference intensives to main stage sessions packed with insight, the programming is sharp, the community is warm, and the takeaways are lasting.
Your next big professional breakthrough might just be waiting for you in a session, a hallway conversation, or a coffee break connection at PD26. Don't miss it.
